Say g’day to Capt. Pelly - the cheeky, charming pelican with a passion for adventure and the proud official mascot of Sea World Helicopters.
With his pilot cap snug, headset on, and wings ready for action, Capt. Pelly is your friendly guide to all things flight.
You’ll spot him in our blog posts, hear about him in the park, and even see him perched proudly at our heliport - always ready to wave hello to our flying guests.
WHO IS CAPT. PELLY?
Capt. Pelly is more than just a mascot - he represents the fun, freedom, and feathered excitement of taking to the skies over the beautiful Gold Coast. He loves helping guests prepare for their helicopter adventures, sharing insider tips, and reminding everyone that the best view is always from above!
He’s become a true part of the Sea World Helicopters family - so much so, we’ve made him a statue, we’re crafting adorable plush toys, and soon, he’ll be waddling around in real life thanks to a giant costume (don’t worry - he gives great high-fives!).

FIND HIM?
You’ll find our heliport located in the Sea World theme park terminal and for those in the theme park Capt. Pelly HQ right next to Sea World’s Pelican Rescue & Rehabilitation area, making this the perfect place to celebrate both aviation and wildlife. Every flight takes off from a location that shares a commitment to care, conservation, and creating unforgettable memories.
And yes - our real-life pelican neighbours keep a watchful eye on every take-off and landing. They may not have pilot licenses (yet), but they’re definitely fans of the skies!
Fun Facts About Pelicans (and Capt. Pelly)
Pelicans can glide for hours without flapping their wings – no wonder Capt. Pelly loves to fly!
Their beaks can hold up to 13 litres of water – but Capt. Pelly prefers storing cool aviation knowledge instead.
Pelicans are highly social – just like Capt. Pelly, who’s always up for a photo, a hug, or a selfie!
He’s a fan of seafood (naturally), but he never flies without a fresh fishy snack tucked away for later.
